A Few Minutes With Dr. Emilio: I Have Your Labor Day Weekend, Right Here!

When we last left The Good Doctor, he was attempting to buy some breakfast...

Why am I calling you by your first names? I don't even know you. I still call my boss "Mister", and I've been working for him for seven years, but all of a sudden I walk in here and I'm calling you Rick and Sheila like we're in some kind of AA meeting... I don't want to be your buddy, Rick. I just want some breakfast.

Good day to you, and to all the ships at sea...This is a long-overdue edition of "A Few Minutes With Dr. Emilio".  The format should be familiar to you, the good readers of The Journal: A Lead Story, A Few Adult Theater related news nuggets, an opinion or two, and a photo of The Good Doctor in a public place.

Let's get started, shall we?

"Growth of The Journal"

August of 2011 marked the two-year anniversary of The Journal's existence on the interwebs (counting the 5-month hiatus in late 2009/early 2010). What started as a conversation with Brent in Portland one night during a trip out there in the summer of 2009, is now a thriving archive of information, reports, databases, profiles, and personal explorations as related to this thing of ours.

There were several moments that helped The Journal gain some credibility and visibility early on, such as my first reports on Canadian porn star and adult theater goer Velvet Skye. That report, HERE, kick started my conversations with Velvet Skye, and her promoting The Journal of Adult Theaters on her Twitter account @VelvetSkye. There is a reason she is Canada's greatest natural resource!  Make sure you check out her Tweets, as well as her website.

September 2009 also saw the first of Bob in Biloxi's always entertaining, smut-filled reports from the beautiful Gulf Coast.  His weekly reports are a staple here at The Journal, and always a must read.  Long-time reporters such as OldBeatNik, JaxBchBum, Major Voyeur, Donny Digital, and of course Brent in Portland supplied outstanding content in the early days of The Journal, and still continue to do so.

The ranks of unique reporters has grown to over 55 contributors from all over the USA and Canada, and that is amazing.  While this thing of ours is a discreet subset of the sex scene, it is thriving is some communities, getting by in some, and hanging on by a thread  in others.  Your contributions have been greatly appreciated by everyone, and we hope you continue to keep on submitting your reports and opinions.

The Journal has seen steady growth month over month, which any good website/blog should show.  I have spent a lot of time improving the look and feel of The Journal, upping the number of pics and videos included with the reports, and introducing new features that hopefully resonate with you, the good readers of The Journal.

How much growth, do you ask?  Let's bust out the bar graph, shall we?  Can someone get the lights?

To those of you keeping score at home, that's 40.1% growth August over July, 2011.  That's how much interest there is in this thing of ours out there.  Thank you for making it a record setting month!

Which brings me to my final point... In order to feed this monster, and provide the latest intel on the adult theater scene, we need reports now more than ever.  Whether you are a regular contributor, or an occasional one, or even a rookie cub reporter, I need what you have. This past week saw the fewest amount of weekly reports in over a year come across the news desk here at The Good Doctor's practice.  The monster is hungry... Let's feed it. Pretty please, with sugar on top. Send them to me at emiliolizardo1@gmail.com, and I'll make you a rock star.

  • Make sure you check out my good friend and colleague Major Voyeur's outstanding blog, The World of Major Voyeur. Not only will you get the latest intel on the St. Louis adult theater scene (and it's a good one), you will get first hand reports from Major Voyeur himself.  Couple that with his great sense of humor, celebrity nudes, and his talent for producing animated GIFs featuring himself and The Good Doctor, and you have a winner my friends.  Tell him The Good Doctor sent you.

  • The Good Doctor is working on a House Call Report from Friday night, where I met up with a great couple, Mr. and Mrs. X at an adult theater.  A great time was had by all, and what a time it was!... Look for the report Tuesday morning at The Journal. And a HUGE thank you to Mr. and Mrs. X!

  • The flags were flying all night long at The Paris Theatre in Portland last night... I am dying to get a report on the action in Portland from the weekend.

  • Another theater with a ton of announcements last night was CTs Adult Theater in Gary, IN.  Can anyone help a brother in getting some reports?  CK?  BRR? HnR?

  • Craigslist postings for The Lido Theater in Dallas continue to be numerous, yet no reports from the field.  The Lido is one of my favorite adult theaters in the country, yet aside when I visit there, I hear next to nothing.  Please submit a report from The Lido and become a hero!

  • "The Clicker" tweets will only be focused on CTs in Gary, and RTs from Major Voyeur in St. Louis moving forward.  My apologies for the inconvenience. It wasn't my call.

  • If you have any questions that you do not want on The Journal itself, please e-mail me at   emiliolizardo1@gmail.com. As many of you can attest, I will get back to you promptly, and with semi-accurate information.  :o)

  • This is the last week for getting your TOP Adult Theater Experience reports in.  Let's salvage this series with some great stories from the past, shall we?

  • The newest feature here at The Journal, Dr. Emilio's Smut for a Sunday Evening, continues this evening.  It has been a big success, drawing a ton of pageviews.  Thank you.

  • Coming this week: A Flash Report from Liz, and the aforemention House Call Report from that handsome devil, The Good Doctor.  Besides that, surprise me.

Have a great rest of your Labor Day weekend!  From the staff here, buried underground in the case hardened bunker of The Journal of Adult Theaters (located in The Valley, near the small women's liberal arts college), stay safe out there.
