Well, Doc, you’ve doubtless been wondering what the hell happened to your intrepid daytime correspondent from Portland.  Truth is, I was out of town on various business responsibilities for nearly two weeks, returning only last Monday.  Unfortunately, my time away corresponded almost exactly with the absence of our Poet Laureate, Brent, who was also away for the better part of those same two weeks.  So, starved as your readers must be for news from the world famous Paris Theater in Portland, OR, I serve up a two-parter, as there has been some quite remarkable daytime action to report.

On or about Sep 29th this year of 2011 the action was through the roof and worthy of the front page.  This Hump Day was one for the archives for NE Ohio at the Summit News (address information located in the Dr. Emilio's Adult Theater Database HERE).

I know that the good readers of the Journal are always on the lookout for a new venue for this thing of ours... So I wanted to mention Exotic Adult Books and Videos in Roselle, IL (514 Congress Cir N). To clarify, this is not a theater, but it has many other fun attributes!

 

This store is located deep in an industrial section of Roselle.  The parking lot is well-lit and

has always felt safe.  The front section of the building houses the DVDs.  It has a HUGE
selection to choose from, so no matter what you are into, they have it!  There is also a smaller section up front that has toys, lube, etc.  Not quite as extensive, but the prices are pretty good.
 
The back of the store has a really nice, large arcade with about 30 booths.  The booths are numbered, with half playing Straight/Lesbian films, and the other half playing Gay or Alternative films.  Some of the booths are small, and could accommodate 1-2 people, where other booth are larger, and could accommodate 3-4 people.  As you might expect, The smaller booths take $1bills, but the larger booths take $5 bills.  The staff up front rarely comes in back, so there is no harassment to “keep the screens lit up”.
 
This arcade also has “Buddy Booths”.  For those of you not familiar with these incredible inventions, let me fill you in:  Buddy Booths are joined by a common wall, that has a large (2’ x 3’) glass window that is opaque.  When someone enters the booth and starts the film, they have an option to push the “Buddy Button”.  As long as the person on the other side ALSO pushes their “Buddy Button”, the class will become clear, allowing full view of the person next to you.   
 
If you are a regular reader of the Journal, you have probably figured out that I am not shy...
but when I was just discovering this thing of ours, I was.  I think Buddy Booths would have
been a great option for me.  They allow you to show off all you want, and look all you want,
but there is no touching.  (Of course, if you really like what you see, you can always change that...)
 
As far as the clientele, there are always guys looking for guys... but we have seen quite a few
couples and single ladies as well.   The people that I have met/played with in the arcade have
always been nice and polite, never pushy.  The facility is usually very clean, and there are 2 bathrooms and a vending machine.  One last thing:  There is a separate door that leads directly to the arcade, so you don’t have to go into the “store” first.   This allows for a bit more anonymity, if you desire.

A quick note... I visited Adult World in Pioneer, TN several years ago.  Huge place just off I-75.  In addition to pay-as-you-watch arcade they had two theatres - one for singles and another for couples (although as a single I could get in by paying extra admission think it was about $10 more).  I was prepared to do it, but the female clerk was kind enough to tell me to save my money as there weren't any couples in there at the time being the middle of the week.

"Adult Theater Database Update"

Since the new Dr. Emilio's Adult Theater Database went live several weeks ago, the feedback has been unanimous in terms of it's helpfulness to you, the good readers of The Journal.  It's one thing having a database, it's another to maintain it with current information, or edit out the bad information.

As of this writing, and since it's launch, the number of adult theaters/ABS/combos has grown from 102 to 122 entries.  In particular, I want to thank long time contributor Donny Digital for providing the updated New Mexico locations and intel on these adult businesses. He did a great job giving me all the pertinent information in a format that made my life easier.  Thank you sir!

Keep checking back to the dB, as I update it/tweak it/edit it a few times a week.  Also, you can do as Liz in Chicago suggested and laminate a copy of the dB and keep it in your car (in case of emergencies, right next to the road flares).

The scene at each of these theaters has been good and steady.  Portland continues it's hold on #1, whereas #2 through #5 rotated between 15th Ave in Melrose Park, IL, Summit News in Warren, OH, CT's in Gary, IN, and The Art Cinema in Hartford/The Lido in Dallas.
• Speaking of CTs, The Good Doctor is working with Pete, the owner of CT's in Gary on a website/blog just pertaining to CT's.  It's available now, and still a work in progress.  Check it out at http://ctsadultsuperstore.blogspot.com/. The goal is to have pics, videos, and reports about the scene at CT's. Their Yahoo Group is only  available to those who can go there and participate in the hardcore gang bang scene, but the blog is available to anyone.  Details are available at the website.

While driving between TN and KY, my wife and I stumbled across a very large adult complex called Adult World (imaginative huh?) in what appears to be Pioneer, TN (Ed. note: Address is 383 Luther Seibers Ln, Pioneer, TN and has been added to the Dr. Emilio's Adult theater Database).

Although I did not have time to do a tour, it has two theaters, one for singles and one for couples plus a meet and greet room.  I found an article on the Internet dated 2008 reporting it was raided and 15 people arrested.  License was pulled.  However, the county apparently discovered the store/theater was a big tax generator for the county and returned the license and now the police leave it alone.  I wonder if we can get any reports on this place.  I have been to theaters all over the place but have never seen anything like this one.....

Doc here again... Looking at the Google map of this complex, it really is in the middle of nowhere.  But judging from the pure size of this place, it must have enough business to keep the lights on and people returning for that walk on the wild side.

This facility was also listed in the Dr. Emilio Adult Theater Database as being located in Knoxville, TN.  I have deleted that location and replaced it with the more accurate address info and details.
