Pat's original website covering this thing of ours, Adult Theater Review, was the first adult theater website I remember visiting back in the early days of the net as we now know it. As a veteran of the scene, Pat's authoritative words are always spot on.
Pat checked in over the weekend while I was still doing my Merv Griffin thing hosting the Fire & Ice Party at 15th Ave. Adult Theater in Chicago, and has filed this report. It's a great read.
Take it away, Pat!

Emilio:
Just wanted to re-initiate our correspondence, and to thank you for all of the outstanding work you've done over the past few years promoting the adult theater community. When I started writing the Adult Theater Review in the mid-1990s, I always hoped that there would be someone who would assume the responsibility to disseminate current. accurate information on all of the theaters in the country, along with an interactive method of sharing experiences and events. You've done all that and more, and I want to thank you most profusely.
After I gave the Adult Theater Review materials to some friends in Kansas City who published www.showingoff.com
(now defunct), I moved to an area in which there were no theaters, where I lived for about 15 years. Other than 2 or 3 weekend trips to Portland every year (during which I always made sure to take Brent out for the best steak in town), and the occasional visit to the steadily deteriorating situation in Tampa, I haven't really patronized too many theaters.
The Lido Theater Dallas, TX |
My two visits both took place on weekdays, so I was able to go upstairs and see the action. Along the hallway that terminates at the theater, there are about 8 lockable private rooms, each with couches and a small-screen TV for watching movies. Most of the action takes place within these rooms, and there's a very good reason why: the single-male patrons of the Lido are unusually aggressive, and tend to swarm around any woman who even shows a hint of activity, even if it is obviously intended for her companion. One good swarm generally drives the couple into a private room, sometimes alone, sometimes with invited guests. But rarely does anything serious take place in the theater (at least on weekdays).
On both of my visits, 3 or 4 couples -- aged anywhere from mid-20s to late 50s -- showed up at the theater. Most of them started to play, got swarmed, and then left in semi-panic. If you're lucky, you might get to see 10-15 minutes of action, and then hope you're selected to be invited into a room, although the single male patrons are very aggressive on this issue as well.
I have heard that the weekends are wonderful, and frequently draw 50-75 couples during the evening hours. On weekends, there is activity both in the theater and the private rooms, and it lasts well into the night.
I'd like to visit the theater during a weekend evening, but (alas) my long-time girlfriend, who was my companion (and fellatrix) at many theaters in the 1990s -- including such classic locations as the Regency in Sacramento, the Grady theater (now Fantasyland II) in Tampa, and the Monroe in Rochester -- has informed me that she will no longer accompany me to adult theaters. I am truly heartbroken.
So if there are any women in the Dallas area, preferably in their 40s or 50s, who would like to be escorted for a weekend evening at the Lido, please feel free to write me at wilsonpat@yahoo.com. (Put the word Lido in the subject line, please.)
Anyway, please keep up the fine work. I used to receive many e-mail messages when I published the Adult Theater Review (almost twenty years ago!), so I know that there is a substantial audience for all of the things you publish, whether it is theater information, stories recounting experiences in theaters, or feedback from visitors to the venues.

Doc here again... Thank you for the kind words, Pat! We appreciate your review of The Lido and what to expect when visiting there. I know of one particular naughty girl (Hi Snowy!) who visits during typically off-hours, and has submitted reports chronicling her adventures. Being a 24/7 facility, fun could happen at any time.
We look forward to you next adventures, sir.
Thanks,
Doc
