Coming Soon! Remembering The Paris Theatre in Portland - A Series of Reports

Doc here, a man who some say is dressed in black on a 94 degree Saturday afternoon, with a preview of coming attractions to The Journal of Adult Theaters.

Over the 7+ years of serving you, the good readers of The Journal, I have published countless reports from the Paris Theater in Portland.  The Paris (as you now know), closed it's doors for good after the close of business Wednesday night 6/8/16 without warning.

The Paris Theatre (and to a great degree, The Jefferson Theatre before it) were legendary in this thing of ours as being some the wildest and most intense adult theaters in the country. The Jefferson had possibly the most ideal layout for a non-balcony adult theater, with a couples only section in the rear side of the theater that did not allow the choir boys to stand directly in front of the section while waxing their willies.

Breaking News! R.I.P. The Paris Theatre in Portland, OR

Doc here, with some news that really sucks out loud.

2016 has been a cruel year for notable deaths. David Bowie. Prince. Kimbo Slice. Muhammad Ali. Abe Vigoda. 

And now we add one more to that list: The Paris Theatre in Portland, OR.

Suddenly and without any formal warning, the legendary Paris Theatre in Portland, OR closed it's doors today for good. My good friend and colleague, Brent in Portland, reported it first late this afternoon. Later this evening he texted me saying that crews were already tearing up The Paris, prepping it for it's next iteration as a non-adult venue. 

Here is the notice that was posted by Ray, the Paris' owner earlier today:

And with those two paragraphs, The Paris is no more.  It has ceased to be.  It's is an "X" x-rated theater. 

In the coming days and weeks, I will be re-publishing some of the "Best of The Paris" reports I have featured here at The Journal.  There is some great stuff, and I look forward to sharing it with you, the good readers of The Journal.

Couple's Flash Report! Avid Annie and Michael Hit the School's Out Party at 15th Ave. Adult Theater in Chicago on 5/21/16 (with PICS!)

Doc here, a man who some say was trained at a school for ninjas back in the 1980's, only to defect back to the USA just in time for the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island and taking a solid third place. 

I love when new couples join the ranks of Journal reporters, and today we welcome the lovely Avid Annie and her guy, Michael. 

They attended the School's Out Party at 15th Ave. Adult Theater in Chicago on Saturday May 21st, and have filed this report.  I was hosting the event, and her account is right on point. Picture perfect one might say...

 Michael and I had been planning our visit for about a month. Because we live almost 5 hours away from the theater, it always takes a little extra planning for us to attend. We have been to the theater about 10 times over the past year and have had great experiences there, so the extra planning has always been well worth it. This trip was extra special, because we were going to attend the May schoolgirl party.

After making the drive and checking into the hotel, Michael and I ate dinner together and relaxed for awhile before getting ready for the party. After getting dressed and packing our bag, we headed over to the theater for some fun. The hotel we stay at is only about 10 minutes from the theater, however the ride always seems longer because of the growing excitement and increasing dampness between my legs.

When we walked into the theater, we were welcomed by Doc, as well as the rest of the front desk staff. We made our way into the party room and I was pleased to see others dressed in their schoolgirl outfits, just like I was. Every costume seemed to have it's own unique feature...some girls had ribbons in their hair, some girls were wearing sexy glasses, and some girls had thigh high nylons.

Good Day Good Doctor,

OK, well lets get started... My husband and I have been exploring different sexual adventures as you can tell from my previous posts. I have been really busy and for the last few months we have kind of had "normal sex". Not that the normal stuff is bad but we had gotten away from being crazy adventurous. I think having a kid that is growing up and insane careers can do that. Well last night we took a sudden leap forward.

The ladies in attendance looked fantastic, as there were many top shelf Playboy Bunny outfits at the party!  And the provided bunny ears in the swag bags came in very handy as the evening went on (I will let you draw your own conclusions on how and why they were so handy).

• Get to the party early. Your chances of getting a locker are better, and the couples preferred parking lot in the back will fill up as the evening goes on.

Doc here, a man who some say has three varieties of bratwurst named after him, with a special Mam-orial Day Editon of Freeze Frame.    My name is Emilio, and I will be taking your drink orders.

First of all, this report was scheduled to go up at 11am, but apparently The Good Doctor can't tell the difference between AM and PM and I set it up wrong. I just caught it, and now here we are. 

Mam-oral Day is a big one for The Good Doctor.  A time to remember all the adult theaters that have passed... Legendary theaters such as The Palm, The Monroe, The Jefferson, The Belvedere, The Capri Art, The Earle, The Oak, and the entirety of The Deuce.  And let us reflect on the recently departed: Cinema Blue in Birmingham, The Buford Highway Twin Theaters in Atlanta, The Colony II (possibly) in E. St. Louis, and rumored to be closed soon Secrets in Oakland, CA.

A Quick Note from the Good Doctor: Eric Edwards Fundraiser via The Rialto Report

Doc here with a quick note from The Valley, near the small women's liberal arts college...

The Rialto Report, a tremendous blog dedicated to the golden age of adult films and theaters, has published a piece on a fundraiser on golden age adult film star Eric Edwards.

New Feature: The Journal's Saturday Musical Interlude - Neil Young & Devo "Hey Hey My My"

An ailing Doc here, fighting a bout with octorectalitis, with a new feature here at the Journal, Doc's Musical Interlude. 

Every Saturday, I will publish a little something that has grabbed my ears and eyes that is a bit off-beat, but gives you, the good readers of The Journal, insight into the music I have enjoyed over the years.   

A couple of week ago, I published this report about The Ramones covering the 1966 Spiderman animated series theme.  I love the Ramones, and it was one of those Ramones Saturday afternoons.  

As a new regular feature here at the Journal, chances are it will be weird, come from the punk or post-punk era, and I may have owned it at one point.

Case in point is this mind-blower of a team-up: Neil Young and DEVO. This video appeared in a Neil Young directed movie from 1982 titled "Human Highway", and it's all sort of awesome.
