The entries The Journal has received (and continues to receive) for this essay have been beyond expectations. I have been thinking about how I would lay out my nominations, and since there are several that stand out from the pack, I will list some honorable mentions in 2 posts, and then my finalists in the last post.
Let's get started:
Honorable Mention #1:
"The Farmer's Daughter"
A regular who spent a lot of time in those booths was The Farmer's Daughter. TFD was a slender blonde, 5'4", maybe 115 lbs, and she always wore a flannel shirt and no make-up.
