Flash Report! Anaconda Hits Fantasyland 1&2 in Tampa, FL on 2/2/18

Doc here, a man who some say was once overheard telling a group of young people on a school field trip, "Old school rap is my jam, yo." 

This thing of ours is a fickle mistress at times. At times, it can yield wonders beyond expectations.  At other's, what appears to be be an ideal plan of an evening results in the loser game show noise.

Senior reporter Anaconda, a man sometimes called "El grande serpiente" by the natives of Tijuana, visited my good friends at Fantasyland 1&2 in Tampa, Fl earlier this month, and hit a night that was not typical at this legendary adult theater spot.

Anaconda back with another report.  Like my last one from San Diego, this will be a case study in missed opportunities from a vibrant location in "this thing of ours" that I do not get the chance to visit very often.

My travels took me to the Tampa area last week and I had a free Friday (2/2) night to check out one of the top spots for theater fun, Fantasyland 1&2.  This was my second trip and I was very much looking forward to the opportunity to attend on a Friday night vs. my last trip which was on a Wednesday night and had minimal action.  I was confident that a Friday night would bear much more fruit.

I rolled into FL1 around 8PM to a decent # of cars, but certainly not packed.  I entered, paid my $25 admission and refreshed my memory on the FL1+2 pricing for hopping back and forth (additional $10 for admission to both) on the 12 hour ticket.  I walked into the theater and took a seat.  It was just me and one other dude in there.  There were several guys milling around in the store and chatting it up with the manager behind the counter.  I stayed for about 30 minutes with no change to the crowd and headed over to Fantasyland 2.

Hi, Doc!

Brief update for you after a brief trip to Pittsburgh in January. I was thinking with my dick instead of my brain and popped into Pulaski at 4:30pm one Wednesday... Of course, no couples, actually nothing going on. The proprietor was a living meme of a WWF star, and was almost begging for me to spend some money. No couples special days or times, but "couples come all the time". The booths are a little creepy in that they only have cheap cloth curtains to serve as doors, and I noticed that in at least one booth there was a black-domed surveillance camera on the ceiling of one booth ---- I think that's pretty slimy. I didn't bother peeking inside the theater as there was only one car in the driveway and it belonged to a guy chatting with the proprietor. The cigarette smoke was a turnoff, too.

From there, I swung down to PastTimes in Steubenville, OH and spent the early and mid evening hoping a couple would appear, which isn't out of the ordinary at PastTimes on any given day of the week.

As it turned out, it was about eight guys milling around. Fortunately, business wrapped up on Thursday afternoon a little earlier than I had expected, and I trekked back to PastTimes at about 2pm. I arrived and found the place to have been filled with guys. There must have been about 25 or more guys enjoying the booths and theater areas, while waiting for lady luck to arrive... as Thursday is "couples day" (i.e.free admission).

Doc here with some news that genuinely makes me sad...

My friend Pete Kaloghirou, the former owner of CTs Adult Theater in Gary, IN, passed away on January 30th, 2018 (thanks to V for giving me the head's up on this news today 2/22/18).  The past year was hard on Pete, and I'm sure it didn't help in regard to his health. 

I first met Pete in 2004, a short time after I moved to The Valley from my old stomping grounds in NY. Upon doing research on adult theaters and ABSs in the Chicagoland area, I found CTs, and decided to drive by and check it out. 

I pulled into the gravel parking lot of CTs, just in time to see two guys building what I would soon discover to be one of the 4 video booths that would be installed in the store. I joked with them I should have brought my tools, since I was in the midst moving into the Chez Lizardo at that time. We shared a good laugh, and that was the first time I shook Pete's hand.

During the first few years of stopping by CTs to take in a feature or two, an ever-present fixture at CTs was Pete's dad, who stood (actually sat) sentry by the door, and in very broken English, would tell the person walking in the door fee before saddling up to the counter to pay your admission.  Everyone loved Papi.  And Papi was very old, and eventually Papi was no longer at the front door. 

Papi's passing took a lot out of Pete, and in many ways Pete was never quite the same after that event. 

Starting in 2012, and running through early 2017, I was fortunate to host Pete's biggest night of the year at CTs: the annual "Party with Creampie Cathy" event.  For 6 consecutive years, on a single night, CTs was the mecca of adult theaters in the US. Having a well-known and awesome porn star in the house was good for (monkey) business, and every year Cathy rocked the old place.

Every year, when wrapping up the Cathy event, I would hug Pete on the way out as a way of saying thanks for providing us a safe space for the event. Last year's hug felt a little different, as there were changes on the way, and this was most likely the last event we'd do there.   

And it was. Within 2 months, CTs would be closed for good, a victim of the changing times and a couple of questionable decisions. That last event was also the last time I saw Pete, and the last hug we shared. 

Thank you Pete. You provided a place for many to fly their freak flag in a no-frills environment. A place for years was argueably the most hardcore adult theater in the US. 

Your place saw many a crazy scene, many of which I'll never forget. Much like yourself, sir.  Thank you for everything.

Rest in peace, Pete.

Pardon the Interruption: Normal Activities Resumed

Doc here, a man who some say was a ghost. He didn't see anyone. No one saw him. He was the barber.

Well my friends, you can call off the Lizardo Alert and cancel the APB on The Good Doctor. After a few days away from the editors desk here at The Journal (near the small women's liberal arts college), I'm back in my overstuffed leather office chair, Bloody Mary to my right, a large meatball to my left.  Let's rock. 

I have some great reports in the hopper, including the next Chapter from my good friend Candi O, in her farewell tour of adult theaters. And this one my friends is a doozy. A recap from last Saturday's huge Secret Room 2125: Anniversary Party at 15th Ave. Adult Theater in Chicago (co-hosted with the awesome Twistingly) is also coming post haste. And if that wasn't enough, a lot of great Flash Reports from both new and veteran Journal scribes.

Flash Report! Anaconda Hits the Barnett Ave. Superstore in San Diego on January 27th and 28th, 2018

Doc here, a man who once performed as a water ski team member in Seaworld's 1991 show, "5 Beauties & a Paesan" in Palm Beach. Reviews were mixed.

Senior Journal scribe Anaconda is back, this time with the details of his back-to-back visits to Barnett Ave. Superstore in San Diego.  This location is one of my favorites in the US, and my fingers were crossed that Anaconda would have a great time.

Hey Doc!  

Anaconda here with a brief report from my weekend at Barnett Adult Superstore in San Diego.  I was really looking forward to this one since it's a spot not on my normal travel route, and frankly pretty far off my radar.  But I've heard you speak very highly of the place and see it on the "Top 5" list at least part of the time.  Couples night... in a beautiful location know for lots of beautiful women... at a top 5 theater...how could it NOT be great?  The theater gods are fickle creatures.

Friday, couples night.  I pulled into a full parking lot around 8:45PM and walked in.  Several attractive couples were checking out the MASSIVE store full of really good merch!  Things were looking up.  I chatted with the attractive female clerk about the rules of the road and the lay of the land.  Your $10 admission gets you a 4 hour pass during which you can come and go as much as you please.  You need $5 to get started in the booths, and minimum $1 after that to keep it going.  And to the back of the store I went... 

I made a loop around the booths first.  VERY impressive.  They are all very clean and very large.  There are no gloryholes, but they are all big enough to fit 2-3 people comfortably, even though there is signage stating that such situations are not legal.  After the loop, I got back to the theater door and gave the universal "I'm ready to watch some porn now, please let me in" wave to the clerk and she buzzed me in.  As you enter, you are in a short hallway, turn a corner and down another short hallway to the theaters.  Not really 1 straight and 1 "alternative", since in each of the 2 theater rooms there were 2 TVs each without a clean delineation of porn type.

Doc here, a man who some say may be America's last, best hope for a medal in the "Baseball Bat in a Cornfield" competition, with an update on Saturday's big Valentines Party at 15th Ave. Adult Theater in Melrose Park, IL.

Flash Report! The Nice Guy Meets Princess Jasmine at 15th Ave. Adult Theater in Chicago in January, 2018.

The following report is super cool for several reasons: 1) It's a first time report, 2) The Nice Guy is a long time reader of The Journal, and it was his time to step up, 3) This report takes place at a familiar haunt of The Good Doctor, and 4) I have met the lovely lady at the center of this report (albeit fleetingly).  More on that in my epilogue.

Long time listener, first time caller (er...emailer). I have been following your blog for a few years now and have had a lot of great adventures because of the knowledge that you share and the stories that you relay to us. I figured it was about time to share one of my own adventures, and this one needed to be shared...

I found myself in Chicago a couple of weeks ago and had some free time on my hands in the afternoon so I decided to stop by 15th Ave to see what was cooking. It was a frigid day (I don’t think the temperature ever got above 20 degrees) and it was snowing pretty steadily, making for a very slow day at the theater. I have learned that patience is a virtue in this thing of ours, and boy did it pay off on this day. After an hour and a half of moping around the theater I /we finally struck gold!

Around 3:30pm a black sedan pulled into the lot and out stepped one of the most gorgeous women I have ever laid eyes on (not just in the lifestyle). She was dressed in a black overcoat, black and white leggings with a black dress over top. I would guess she was around 5’7”, and weighed around 125 pounds she had beautiful jet black hair and an amazing smile.  She was as well put together a woman as you will see anywhere.
